There Be A Law Requiring Manufactures To Label Foods Containing GMOs?

Should There Be A Law Requiring Manufactures To Label Foods Containing GMOs?
14. According to some health organizations, many foods on our grocery store shelves are made with genetically modified ingredients. Most of these foods, however, do not have a GMO (genetically modified organism) label. Do you think there should be a law requiring manufactures to label foods containing GMOs? Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.
Many people purchase their food products based on the ingredients that are used to make it, but when they purchase something, they believe it to be healthy, but is it really? They may see the ingredients and not know that the food was made with GMOs. I, as a consumer would want the manufactures to label foods that contain GMOs. Since, many of the consumers prefer food that is completely organic and not genetically modified, they would agree with me in labeling foods that contain GMOs. Therefore, I completely agree with their being a law to require manufactures to label foods containing GMOs.
By the manufactures labeling their food products, we as the consumers can commence to make smarter and wiser decisions to what we put in our mouths. Yes, genetically modified foods might have more zest, but what they also bring is obesity and many other health issues. If you were to read the label in the food that you wanted to purchase, you would notice that the foods that claim to be organic, are not organic because they are genetically modified. When, the manufactures commence to label that sort of foods then we can see which one is healthier, because most of the genetically foods contain corn syrup or corn.
I strongly believe that we as a society should urge the manufactures to label the foods containing GMOs. They may say that we should thank them for introducing us to new sort of foods and better flavors as well. Therefore, does that mean that we should also thank them for obesity, heart problems, cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes etc? The manufactures do not care about our health and more the less about us. All that they care about is hooking us on their product no matter what it is made of, in order for them to make big bucks out of us.
It is to the manufactures benefit not to include if the food is genetically modified or not, so why would they want to put a GMO label on their product? The manufactures prefer us to be as ignorant as possible when it comes to purchasing food, so they decided not to include a GMO label. Their plan all along was to deceive us and they have surely achieved their goal. We should not stand for such nonsense and stand up for ourselves. We can start by something that may not seem that big, but can make a huge difference and that is to demand the manufactures to include a GMO label.

Comparison for "For Colored Girls” and “Out of Our Father’s House”

When I saw the films "For Colored Girls" and "Out of Our Father's House", I noticed that both of these films had similarities and differences as well. For instance, in the film "For Colored Girls", the actresses are African American and mostly portray the hardships that African American Women have gone through or deal with. The difficulties that they have undergone are explained and shown through poetry. The hardships of the women in the film deal with love, rape, abortion, and abandonment. Although, in both of the films the women showed us their love experiences with men and how it affected them and what occurred due to those experiences. The women also tell us, that they overcame the problems that were put up against them. While in the film, "Out of Our Father's House", the actresses are white and discuss women's suffrage and how Elizabeth Cady Stanton had a major impact in the women's suffrage movement. In the film, "For Colored Girls", was a bit more modern in age because of the clothing that the women and the men were wearing and the language that they utilized. While, in the film, "Out of Our Father's House", the women were in the older days, because of the outfits that were worn by the women and the language that they used in order to express themselves. For the film, "For Colored Girls" had various settings such as the park, different rooms, a school dance, etc. While in the other film their was only one setting which was one room.

Cats and Dogs

The similarities between cats and dogs are innumerable, yet this holds true with the differences as well. First, we shall discuss the similarities that these two creatures share. One of the most obvious similarities between these two animals is that they both have hair. They are also domesticated animals kept as pets. They require love and affection from their owner, and can show love and affection If you show it towards them. Another thing is that when you pet them, not only does it relieve stress, it gets dog or cat hair everywhere. They both give birth to multiple offspring at one time, which must be very hard on the mother. Now that I am finished with my explanation of the similarities between dogs and cats, I will now discuss with you the differences between these two majestic animals. One of the main differences is that of their species. The cats belong to the family of felines. Dogs, on the other hand, are canines. Another difference is that dogs are pack animals, which means you should spend lots of time with your dog so that it doesn’t get lonely. Cats are loners, meaning they can spend alot of time alone without getting lonely. Another big difference is the sounds that they make. A dog goes woof, bark, growl, or howl. A cat, on the other hand, goes meow and purr. The canine group also has a peticular social status, and how they determine their ranks.Cats don’t have any.The determining factor in dogs is the tail. When a cat holds it’s tail up, it means it is happy, but in dogs, how high they hold their tail is how they determine ranks.

Dressing Formally and Informally

Informal attire consists of, for men, a suit, the main components of which are a pair of trousers with a matching jacket. The suit is typically dark-colored with or without a pattern, grey, dark blue, brown, or black. The suit is worn with a long-sleeved shirt and a tie. Informal attire for women in its strictest interpretation is patterned after the male standard — a suit consisting of a jacket with matching skirt or trousers, plus a blouse. This interpretation of informal attire is not quite so commonly worn by women as by men, as there are other forms of female attire acceptable in informal settings. Informal attire is today considered a conservative form of dress, appropriate for nearly all formal settings that do not require white tie or black tie. For instance, it is commonly worn in religious services, funerals, government, schools, and other contexts where casual attire is not accepted but formal attire would be considered excessive. At present, informal attire is the typical dress at daytime weddings in the United States, where it is a replacement for the increasingly rare morning dress. Formal wear and formal dress are the general terms for clothing suitable for formal social events, such as a wedding, formal garden party or dinner, débutante cotillion, dance, or race. The Western style of formal evening dress, characterized by black and white garments, has spread through many countries; it is almost always the standard formal social dress in countries without a formal national costume. A dress code is a set of rules governing a certain combination of clothing; some examples are black tie and morning dress. Formal dress is the grouping of all the dress codes which govern clothes worn to formal events. The traditional rules that govern men's formal dress are strictly observed by whom? From these derive the evening dress variants worn on many occasions, such as high school prom dances, formal dances, and entertainment industry award programs. The dress codes considered formal in the evening are white tie and black tie.

Raw and Cooked Foods

Eighty million species on earth (about 700,000 of which are animals) thrive on raw food. Only humans apply heat to what they eat. Humans on average as a race, die at or below half their potential life span of chronic illness that is largely diet and lifestyle related. Domesticated pets also are fed cooked, processed, packaged food that likewise is denatured by heat. As a consequence, they suffer human-like chronic ailments including cancer, arthritis and other degenerative diseases. Raw and Living Foods are foods that contain enzymes. In general, the act of heating food over 116 degrees F destroys enzymes in food. Enzymes start to degrade in as little as 106 degrees F. All cooked food is devoid of enzymes, furthermore cooking food changes the molecular structure of the food and renders it toxic. Living and raw foods also have enormously higher nutrient values than the foods that have been cooked. Enzymes are important because they assist in the digestion and absorption of food. If you eat food that is enzyme-less, your body will not get maximum utilization of the food. This causes toxicity in the body. Living and Raw foods both contain enzymes. In living foods, the enzyme content is much higher. Raw, unsprouted nuts contain enzymes in a "dormant" state. To activate the enzymes contained in almonds, for example, soak them in water for as just 24 hours. Once the almonds begin to sprout, the enzymes become "active" and are then considered living. In the context of this web site, the terms are used loosely.

Spicy and Sweet Foods

There are various different sorts of food out their for us to choose from. Their are two sort of foods that are different but the same as well and they are the sweet and spicy foods. A spice is a dried seed, fruit, root, bark, or vegetative substance used in nutritionally insignificant quantities as a food additive for flavor, color, or as a preservative that kills harmful bacteria or prevents their growth. In the kitchen, spices are distinguished from herbs, which are leafy, green plant parts used for flavoring. taste nerves are activated when consuming foods like chili peppers, the sensation commonly interpreted as "hot" results from the stimulation of somatosensory fibers in the mouth. Many parts of the body with exposed membranes that lack taste receptors produce a similar sensation of heat when exposed to pungent agents. Confectionery is the set of food items that are rich in sugar, any one or type of which is called a confection. Modern usage may include substances rich in artificial sweeteners as well. Confectionery items include sweets, lollipops, candy bars, chocolate, candy floss, and other sweet items of snack food. The term does not generally apply to cakes, biscuits, or puddings which require cutlery to consume, although exceptions such as petit fours or meringues exist. Speakers of American English do not refer to these items as "candy".

How Weather Affects Your Mood

Ever been cranky when it is too hot? Have you ever been listless or depressed when its cold or rainy? Can the weather affect our mood? This has always been an intriguing subject. It has been studied by scientists and sociologists. One would think so, just to make an educated guess, especially if it has happened to you. Like when the days are extremely hot, and you feel irritated or moody for no apparent reason. And what about when it is cold or rainy and gloomy and you feel sad, meloncoly, even depressed, but you can't quite put your finger on it. Is there any evidence to substantiate these seemingly bizarre occurances? Phenomenon? Or is there a direct connection between the two? There are studies that link weather with long periods of high temperatures to increase in crime. It is believed that people get irritable and hostile when it is extremely hot. Several law enforcement agencies have statistics that shows te correlation of the two. Think about how you felt if ever you had experienced a heat wave: hot, irritable, frustrated, maybe even angry. In conclusion, there is some evidence that says that the weather can affect our mood. But not documented, I believe we can judge for ourselves, as well. If you have ever been happy and energetic on a bright sunny day, or sad and depressed or lack of energy on winter days or rainy days, or if you have been irritable on an extremely hot day, you have proven that, the weather does have some physical, however minimal, and/or psychological affect on our mood.

Public Schooling and Homeschooling

Both provide education for anyone who wishes to learn. Homeschooling develops oneself (personality, beliefs, likes and dislikes, etc.) without too much outside influence. Pro-individuality. Another major difference is that their are not as many distractions from schoolwork. Home school associations provide abundant access to other homeschoolers to help develop social skills. Academically advanced due to one-on-one teaching. Also teaches a student to learn on their own, to teach themselves. While in public schools a child develops oneself within the general public; sometimes social skills are more quickly developed. More easily influenced by peer pressure. Generally not as academically advanced because of one teacher provided for many students. Proponents of home schooling believe that children thrive better in a safe, comfortable environment with which they are familiar. Ironically, so do advocates of public schooling. However, home-schoolers believe the home is the safest, most secure environment in which a child can learn. At home, a child does not have to deal with peer pressure or with fitting-in with the popular cliques. A child can just “be.” This gives the child the opportunity to focus on the lessons being taught and on the educational expectations required of him or her. Home-schooled students do not have to worry whether they are wearing the right clothes, the right shoes, or are shopping at the right stores or playing the right video games. Since there are (usually) no other children around, home-schooled children learn in a relatively calm, peaceful environment, and – most importantly – they usually have the opportunity to work at their own pace and in their own style. For some, that spells the difference between success and failure. Regular public school classrooms are not, by nature, relatively calm environments, especially at the elementary school level. However, that does not mean a student cannot thrive in such an environment. In fact, supporters of regular public schooling argue that the chaos of the classroom is actually what children need to succeed. Humans are social creatures. That is the belief of many regular public school proponents. Children should interact and to work with one another in order to build real, vital skills needed in the real world. For example, the advocates of regular public schooling believe that learning the reading process can certainly happen effectively at home. After all, they say, most kids do learn to read at home. However, the goal of public education is not to teach students simply how to read, solve math problems, or to solve scientific equations. If that was the case, home schooling would be the best option for everyone.

Understanding and Knowledge

Knowledge is something that people already know.We all know things that don't have to be taught to us because we already know it. Understand is something that is being taught by someone and we understand right away.Knowledge is something that someone we will always know something. To understand something is to have conceptualized it to a given measure. Knowledge is defined as expertise, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education, the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject, what is known in a particular field or in total; facts and information; or also the awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation. when we learn a type of subject that's a form of knowledge because once we learn it we will never forget what we learned. This is different from understanding in a way because for someone to understand something means they are still in the process of learning whatever that still needs to be taught.

An Interesting Person

The most interesting person that I know is my uncle Javier. To me he is a very special person. He is not only another close relative that gives me advice but also teaches me how to have fun in a clean and safe way. Although, I chose to write about him as an interesting person that I know because I can tell you so many stories about my uncle that probably no one would dare do. For example one time when he was in Mexico he was having so much fun and had always wanted to ride a bull. Many people may think that riding a bull is very dangerous but he thought otherwise, so he decided to ride the bull at the coleadero and in his time of fun, his face literally got smushed up against the poles of where the bull was released and from where he got on the bull. He was immediately went unconscious and was taken to the hospital and unfortunately he got a mark to remind him of his action. His right cheek bone was broken but luckily his wound heeled and he no longer has that mark.

Most Effective Teacher

The most effective teacher that I ever had was my sixth grade teacher Ms. Greer. She was very helpful and made learning fun. I definitely learned a lot with her. One of her most valuable qualities was that she was very patient and the fact that she knew her students very well. I felt that she understood each and everyone of her students and knew what motivated each of us and kept us going no matter what. That way when we said I can't learn this it's hard she said no it's not and yes you can learn this just look at it this way... We didn't just learn form her but she also learned from us like she mentioned throughout the year. If a student did not get it right away she would set time before or after school just to help you out so that you can get what you did not understood. She was also a very creative teacher and she would assign us projects that were fun and also helped us learn more. I had her for one year only and that was the most amazing year! Sadly, that was her last year as well, she moved to New York and I felt bad for the under underclassman because they wouldn't have the same and esciting experience like our class.

Not Enough Sleep

Many people now don't get the required sleep. Yes, this might seem very common as well but so is insomnia and many other sleeping disorders and these start off by missing a couple of hours of sleep by staying up late watching TV or on the phone. By doing this you don't realize that you are not simply missing out on sleep but you are affecting your body, life, academic performance and social life. Lack of sleep can ruin a day completely! When you are in school missing hours of sleep messes them up in school because when they are in school they are very sleepy and they are not paying attention in class and to others and you are literally falling asleep in class.Having a good night sleep will help them have a fresh start in the morning and they will be able to absorb all the information the teacher is ready to lecture on. It goes the same for those that go to work early in the morning. They will not be alert on their work and it is possible that if they keep that up they might get fired and then they will start to have economic problems in the future. This is why it is important to get a good night's sleep so that the next day you can be fresh and ready to start a new day.

My Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is "Life As We Know It", which came out in October 2010. It is a romantic comedy film starring  Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel as the two main characters. Katherine is Holly and Josh is Eric and in the film they were set up on a blind date by their friends, Peter and Allison who are married. A few years later after Peter and Allison were killed in an accident, they learn that Peter and Allison have named them as the guardians to their daughter, Sophie. So they move into their house and try their best to honor their friends' wishes. But raising a child puts a crimp on their style and they don't exactly get along. This film is far from perfect, but what it's attempting to explore is a bit mind boggling. How would two people who initially dislike each other find enough common ground to come together in the best interests of a child? You won't find a 'how to' here, but all the small moves and incidents rang true to me, and the result in the end, seems quite plausible to me, at least. Things happen when two people get thrown together like this and I doubt you'll have it illustrated more enjoyably than this any time soon.

Learning A New Language

Make sure that you study your new foreign language each and every day... even if for only a little bit! It's much better to study a little each day instead of in one big chunk once per week. The reason is that studying each day will keep the content fresh in your mind and cut down on the amount of time you need to review each time you study your target language. Short sessions each day keep you moving forward. Vocabulary is important for learning any new language. It doesn't matter how much grammar you know, if you don't know the words, you won't get the meaning. So, make sure you have some way of keeping track of the new words you come across in your studies. You can either keep a list or take notes. Be sure to do something fun in the language you are studying! Don't just read grammar books and do textbook exercises all day. If you do this, you will soon find yourself getting bored and not wanting to continue your studies. If you read an interesting magazine article, listen to a song or watch a movie in your target language, not only will you be having a good time but you'll end up learning some more of your language without even realizing it!

My Favorite Music Video

My favorite music video is, "you belong with me" by Taylor Swift. I love this song because its a love song about a girl telling a guy that he belongs with her and no other girl. The song's concept is basically about wanting someone who is with this girl who doesn't appreciate him at all and how you like this guy who you have for your whole life, and you know him better than she does but somehow the popular girl gets the guy every time. The video is so cute. The video commences with Till arguing with his girlfriend through a phone call. As soon as Swift, as the protagonist, notices, they begin to communicate by holding up signs through their bedroom windows. Till closes his curtains, and Swift holds up a sign saying, "I love you". As the song's chorus approaches, Swift starts to sing and dance in front of a mirror, changing to different clothing multiple times. Afterward, Swift is sitting in a bench while reading a book. Till arrives and the two converse. Then, Swift, as the antagonist, arrives in a red convertible car and Till gets in it; Swift, as the antagonist, kisses him and gives a vicious look towards the protagonist. Suddenly, she is seen cheerleading at a football game while Swift's other persona is in the bleachers, performing in the school band. After scoring the winning touchdown, Till moves toward his girlfriend and finds her flirting with a teammate; meanwhile, Swift, as the protagonist, stares in amazement. Back in their bedroom windows, they again communicate through signs, Till asked Swift, as the protagonist, if she was attending prom and she responded, "no, studying". Shortly after, Swift is seen entering prom with a white dress, no longer looking like a nerd, while all her peers stare in amazement. When Till spots her, he walks towards her and Swift, as the antagonist, attempts to impede him, but he ignores her. Ending the video, Till and Swift reveal letters saying "I love you" and kiss.

Teenage Fad

The popularity of the “Twilight” series, both the books and movies, and television hits like HBO’s “True Blood” might be causing some kids to imitate the behavior of their favorite vampires. Teens are even using Internet sites like YouTube to post videos of their bites, usually involving the arm, face or neck. Nneka Holder, an adolescent medicine specialist at Akron Children’s Hospital, warns that a human bite is not something to trivialize. “Human mouths are not much cleaner than a dog’s mouth,” said Holder, who added that bites that cause infection could land a child in the hospital. Some people bite or give hickeys as a sign of possession, warning others to keep away from the victim. Anything done like that to show ownership is not a healthy relationship. Teens’ attraction to vampire tales is nothing new. Vampires lure us into our dark side, and for some of us, that is a thrilling literary adventure. I think vampire movies . . . are popular because they are so exotic, especially in ‘Twilight’s’ case. You have unconventional vampires that don’t eat humans, but rather are ‘vegetarians’ that eat animal blood. Mentioning the ‘Twilight Saga Eclipse’ and the ‘True Blood’ series by HBO, the ‘CBS Early Show’ reported that fans may have taken the vampire premise a bit too far when it comes to this latest craze. Fans are showing affection to each other by biting and drawing blood. This could cause a series of health problems, but more importantly, it is a fad that is caused by biting another person. These bite marks are seen on tweens, teens and even young adults all over visible body parts. The more bite marks, the more you are “loved”.

Relationships Between People and Animals

Did you ever wonder why so many people own pets? Americans own more than 500 million pets and spend more than 14 billion dollars a year to feed and care for them. Animals' popularity with humans is largely due to their ability to lower our stress levels. Simply interacting with an animal creates and endorphin rush in the human body which in turn relieves stress. All of nature's components have this same effect on people, making the environment we choose to live in extremely important to our health. It has been proven that people who live in rural areas amidst nature's splendor are healthier than those existing in man made environments. Most people instinctively know this, which is the reason why so many, especially those in cities, own pets. It might seem surprising that 58% of urban and suburban households own pets but when we stop to consider the positive results they produce in our overall well-being, it seems more surprising that every household doesn't include one. Animals are a part of nature that is too often overlooked despite the extensive benefits they provide for us.

My Luscious Dessert

I think that the most luscious and decadent dessert is the chocolate mousse tort. I thought I want something that Is semi baked since it is winter time. Then I thought of chocolate mousse but frowned upon it since it was cold and it was winter time so not a good combination and researched and found a chocolate mousse tort! When i found it it seemed amazing! This consists of three layers of chocolate mousse – from the top down, white chocolate-orange mousse, gianduja (milk chocolate with toasted hazelnut paste) mousse and i love alice medrich. The combination of textures and (albeit all chocolate) flavors in this trio of mousses as you describe them seems amazing! My mouth is watering of imagining all of the chocolate melting in my mouth and it follows my standards of being semi baked and this dessert requires you to bake half of the mousse mixture. I must confess that the fact that you had to bake only half of the mousse mixture intrigued me but it also met my requirements.

Life Without Cellphones

A Cell-phone is such an interesting gadget and it's getting remarkably smaller in size day by day and amazingly with all the possible Applications on it. It sure has become a very interesting machine. I have seen people carrying it everywhere...u name it such as bed, restroom, while bathing. No activity is a lonesome one anymore. We have it near us and we tend to navigate the APPs even while talking to someone or shopping. Boy, where are our manners?Life would be completely different without cell phones because I have come to wonder how my life would be without a cell phone? My answer was simply that it would be DULL! How would I keep myself entertained after doing all the norms of the day? How would I connect to the world? How would I know that all is well at the other end of my world i.e. my loved ones? I gotta keep up with my score of games and watch out for my friend's who score even out with me on games. I gotta keep it near me just in case of an emergency. I see myself running frantically with out it. You see...this is a world for winners so, how can I lay low for once...nay can't.

Paris!

I have always wanted to visit Paris, France, one of the most popular short city break destinations with many famous sights to see, fashionable shops, chic cafes and gourmet restaurants to enjoy Paris is one of the leading cities for fashion design brands and perfumes. Since I do enjoy walking, walking is a good way to explore the city itself which is divided into districts, the metro system also makes it easy to get around. There are several boat trips from Seine River Cruises to Paris Canal Cruises taking you past many of the major tourist sights in Paris. I have always wanted to see inside Notre-Dame from which I can admire two magnificent rose windows. I would also like to see the Arc de Triomphe in the middle of place Charles de Gaulle it towers above the traffic. Down from the Arc de Triomphe is the famous Avenue des Champs – Élysées which is lined with cafes, fast food chains, cinemas, shopping malls! The Musée du Louvre, this impressive museum houses world famous works of art and many magnificent collections. I would love to see the painting of the Mona Lisa. The Eiffel Tower is a landmark of Paris and definitely another must see attraction for me. I have heard that after dusk at the start of every hour the lights twinkle from the structure, a spectacle well worth seeing. There are many places to eat where you can enjoy a variety of food as well as good regional French cuisine there are no shortages of restaurants, patisseries/ cafés, wine bars and beer cellars to try.

College in Another State

Going to college is a very big step for any person. Now if they decide to attend college in another state they would have to look at various things and complete simple tasks as well. first and for most they would have to look into their living situation. Are they going to live in the dorms or are they going to be staying with a relative if they  have any? Also, they would have to figure out how it is that they are suppose to pay for the out of state admission tax since they are out of state. Another, major thing is to figure out if they are going to work or not and if it will be able to fit in their schedule. You will need to find a job if your parents aren't able to pay for your college and your personal needs or if you don't have enough money with the scholarships and the grants. You will also have to know how is it that you will be able to transport yourself once you are in another state. Once you have figured out your living situation and money wise problems you will have to know how it is that you are going to transport your things to that other state and how you are going to get their as well. Also, who will be paying for your plane ticket and for moving your belongings? Once you have figured all of this you will be set for your future in college. I wish you the best of luck!

My Best Friend's Birthday

If I were to plan my best friend's birthday party I would do anything to make her birthday unforgettable and very fun! First,  I would pick the date of the party. Although having a party on her exact birthday may seem ideal, sometimes my schedule or her schedule just won't allow that and I'll have to make it sometime before or after her real birthday. Second, I need to choose who she want's at her party. Now for the best part: planning the party! But first and foremost, I'll have to send out invitations to the guests. Next, I will have to decide on the entertainment and since I know she loves Mexican band music and all of her friends and family members love it as well, I will provide live entertainment from a Band. Next, I have to decide what food I would like to serve. I have decided to have a Mexican buffet so that everyone can sample a little bit of everything. Some foods that I want to be sure to include are chicken fajitas, warm flour tortillas, chili con queso, tortilla soup, Mexican rice, black bean and corn salsa, and margaritas. I would decorate each table with colorful fiesta theme paper goods and tie the napkins with raffia dyed red or green. Add a glowing margarita glass to each place setting or set them up at the buffet! Also as each guest enters the party, take his/her picture with a giant sombrero on their head with a personalized Fiesta camera. I would also place small vases in a variety of colors to make wonderful centerpieces when they're filled with fiesta flowers. Wrap the napkins in colorful chili pepper bracelets for a wonderful table accent. This would definitely be a party that my best friend would remember!

The 70's

If I were able to live in any decade I would choose the 70's. Many important and tragic things occurred during this period of time. The microprocessor is introduced during this marvelous age period. This era was also the end of the Gold Standard for American Currency in 1971. NASA and the Soviets send probes to Mars. The NASA Mariner 9 became the first spacecraft to orbit another planet on November 14th. The Soviets Mars 2 and Mars 3 arrived a month later, and sent a probe down to the planet. A tragedy that occurred was the three cosmonauts that died after record breaking trip in space of 24 days. Also, the Pentagon Papers are released to newspapers and despite an attempt to conceal the evidence researched by the government, the 47 volume study was given to the New York Times and The Washington Post who printed excerpts from the study. It revealed that Eisenhower had been warned against involvment by his generals, Kennedy had approved the overthrow of the Sout Vietnam president, and Johnson's covert operations had sparked the Tonkin Gulf incident. Another major thing was that cigarette ads were banned from the television and that the first floppy disc was created for computers. Also, China joined the UN.

Appreciating My Parents

Everyone I believe takes for granted what they have until they are losing what they loved and treasured without acknowledging the other person. I on the other hand don't want to be like that so I have taken the liberty to write this piece or work in order to tell my parents that I appreciate them and why. First off, I would like to thank them for bringing me into this world. If it weren't for them I would not be here now and I would've never had such wonderful parents. I would also like to thank them for being their for me and leading me towards the right path in life. Both of my parents are very hard workers and want the best for me. My parents have always been their for me for good or bad times. They have loved me every single step of my life and tried to comprehend the decisions which they disapprove of. My parents may be hard on me at times but I know that they do it in order to help me chose the right decision and not make the same mistakes that they made but my own mistakes! Both of my parents have loved me and been their for me and have given me the strength to go on with life and for that and much more I love them and appreciate them.

A New Person From Another Country

I was asked to interview and write an article on a newly arrived foreigner. In order to complete this task of course I would have to ask personal questions and be as friendly and honest as possible. I would first of all introduce myself, then I would ask for his name. After the introductions, I would ask him to please take a seat and tell me about his life since the beginning. I would try and help him out by handing him the questions. I would ask him; How old are you? When were you born? Where were you born? Who are your parents? What city and country were you raised in? Do you have any hobbies? If so please specify. I would then go into foods and ask him; what is your favorite food and beverage? Then I would continue by asking him if he has any siblings and if so how many and what are their ages? I would then ask him why is it that he came to the U.S? Then I would continue on by asking the person what he/she want to do with their life in the future and if they have someone in particular to fight for and make proud other than his/her parents/ family members. This sort of information would be included in the article that I would write of the foreigner .

Preserving Family History

I have always been intrigued by family history, especially my family history. In order to try and preserve my family history I would ask my parents questions about their ancestors and take notes of what they say. Some of the questions that I may ask them would be concerning with traditions, holidays, races, languages, and family heirlooms? I would want to know everything! i know that my parents may not know everything concerning with their ancestors and that is why i would take it upon myself to ask my grandparents the same sort of questions. I would ask them, what were the traditions that they accustomed in their culture all year round such as holidays, birthdays, marriages, baptisms, confirmations, and any other special occassion? I would also ask them if they spoke any other language other than spanish and if they liked keeping in touch with their culture and if so why and what was their culture? Some other questions that I would ask would be, were all of your ancestors natives from Mexico? I would also like to know of folk tales and if they believed in them and told stories as well. I know that my grandparents and my parents would be proud of me trying to learn and indulge myself in my culture.

Setting As The World

The house for which I drew the floor plan of, is the house in which I grew up in and currently live in as well. During these past seventeen years of my life many memories have been made in my house. A place that plays an important part in my childhood memories and my current memories is the kitchen. since I can remember our kitchen has been used to cook most of the family food for the holidays, birthdays and family reunions. I remember that our kitchen smells wonderful, filling the air with marvelous aroma's. The whole family gathers in the kitchen to talk, joke around, and most importantly, to eat. Whether it is cold or hot the kitchen is always the place in which the parties end up in, because it is the main house of the whole family. When it is especially cold, the family goes into the kitchen because it is the warmest place in the whole house. Since it is cold, my mom always bakes cookies and bread and has a pot of hot chocolate or coffee on the stove and everyone finds their way into the kitchen. I always find myself in the kitchen during any social event because everyone is enjoying themselves, eating, drinking, talking, laughing, and joking around. I love how everyone always makes me laugh by what they have to say and the things that they say. To me the kitchen definitely represents a safety zone. I say this because the kitchen is always bright in color and in mood! The color of the kitchen is yellow and I always find my mom in their singing along with the songs from the radio. As soon as you set foot in the kitchen you feel better.
