There Be A Law Requiring Manufactures To Label Foods Containing GMOs?

Should There Be A Law Requiring Manufactures To Label Foods Containing GMOs?
14. According to some health organizations, many foods on our grocery store shelves are made with genetically modified ingredients. Most of these foods, however, do not have a GMO (genetically modified organism) label. Do you think there should be a law requiring manufactures to label foods containing GMOs? Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.
Many people purchase their food products based on the ingredients that are used to make it, but when they purchase something, they believe it to be healthy, but is it really? They may see the ingredients and not know that the food was made with GMOs. I, as a consumer would want the manufactures to label foods that contain GMOs. Since, many of the consumers prefer food that is completely organic and not genetically modified, they would agree with me in labeling foods that contain GMOs. Therefore, I completely agree with their being a law to require manufactures to label foods containing GMOs.
By the manufactures labeling their food products, we as the consumers can commence to make smarter and wiser decisions to what we put in our mouths. Yes, genetically modified foods might have more zest, but what they also bring is obesity and many other health issues. If you were to read the label in the food that you wanted to purchase, you would notice that the foods that claim to be organic, are not organic because they are genetically modified. When, the manufactures commence to label that sort of foods then we can see which one is healthier, because most of the genetically foods contain corn syrup or corn.
I strongly believe that we as a society should urge the manufactures to label the foods containing GMOs. They may say that we should thank them for introducing us to new sort of foods and better flavors as well. Therefore, does that mean that we should also thank them for obesity, heart problems, cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes etc? The manufactures do not care about our health and more the less about us. All that they care about is hooking us on their product no matter what it is made of, in order for them to make big bucks out of us.
It is to the manufactures benefit not to include if the food is genetically modified or not, so why would they want to put a GMO label on their product? The manufactures prefer us to be as ignorant as possible when it comes to purchasing food, so they decided not to include a GMO label. Their plan all along was to deceive us and they have surely achieved their goal. We should not stand for such nonsense and stand up for ourselves. We can start by something that may not seem that big, but can make a huge difference and that is to demand the manufactures to include a GMO label.

Comparison for "For Colored Girls” and “Out of Our Father’s House”

When I saw the films "For Colored Girls" and "Out of Our Father's House", I noticed that both of these films had similarities and differences as well. For instance, in the film "For Colored Girls", the actresses are African American and mostly portray the hardships that African American Women have gone through or deal with. The difficulties that they have undergone are explained and shown through poetry. The hardships of the women in the film deal with love, rape, abortion, and abandonment. Although, in both of the films the women showed us their love experiences with men and how it affected them and what occurred due to those experiences. The women also tell us, that they overcame the problems that were put up against them. While in the film, "Out of Our Father's House", the actresses are white and discuss women's suffrage and how Elizabeth Cady Stanton had a major impact in the women's suffrage movement. In the film, "For Colored Girls", was a bit more modern in age because of the clothing that the women and the men were wearing and the language that they utilized. While, in the film, "Out of Our Father's House", the women were in the older days, because of the outfits that were worn by the women and the language that they used in order to express themselves. For the film, "For Colored Girls" had various settings such as the park, different rooms, a school dance, etc. While in the other film their was only one setting which was one room.

Cats and Dogs

The similarities between cats and dogs are innumerable, yet this holds true with the differences as well. First, we shall discuss the similarities that these two creatures share. One of the most obvious similarities between these two animals is that they both have hair. They are also domesticated animals kept as pets. They require love and affection from their owner, and can show love and affection If you show it towards them. Another thing is that when you pet them, not only does it relieve stress, it gets dog or cat hair everywhere. They both give birth to multiple offspring at one time, which must be very hard on the mother. Now that I am finished with my explanation of the similarities between dogs and cats, I will now discuss with you the differences between these two majestic animals. One of the main differences is that of their species. The cats belong to the family of felines. Dogs, on the other hand, are canines. Another difference is that dogs are pack animals, which means you should spend lots of time with your dog so that it doesn’t get lonely. Cats are loners, meaning they can spend alot of time alone without getting lonely. Another big difference is the sounds that they make. A dog goes woof, bark, growl, or howl. A cat, on the other hand, goes meow and purr. The canine group also has a peticular social status, and how they determine their ranks.Cats don’t have any.The determining factor in dogs is the tail. When a cat holds it’s tail up, it means it is happy, but in dogs, how high they hold their tail is how they determine ranks.

Dressing Formally and Informally

Informal attire consists of, for men, a suit, the main components of which are a pair of trousers with a matching jacket. The suit is typically dark-colored with or without a pattern, grey, dark blue, brown, or black. The suit is worn with a long-sleeved shirt and a tie. Informal attire for women in its strictest interpretation is patterned after the male standard — a suit consisting of a jacket with matching skirt or trousers, plus a blouse. This interpretation of informal attire is not quite so commonly worn by women as by men, as there are other forms of female attire acceptable in informal settings. Informal attire is today considered a conservative form of dress, appropriate for nearly all formal settings that do not require white tie or black tie. For instance, it is commonly worn in religious services, funerals, government, schools, and other contexts where casual attire is not accepted but formal attire would be considered excessive. At present, informal attire is the typical dress at daytime weddings in the United States, where it is a replacement for the increasingly rare morning dress. Formal wear and formal dress are the general terms for clothing suitable for formal social events, such as a wedding, formal garden party or dinner, débutante cotillion, dance, or race. The Western style of formal evening dress, characterized by black and white garments, has spread through many countries; it is almost always the standard formal social dress in countries without a formal national costume. A dress code is a set of rules governing a certain combination of clothing; some examples are black tie and morning dress. Formal dress is the grouping of all the dress codes which govern clothes worn to formal events. The traditional rules that govern men's formal dress are strictly observed by whom? From these derive the evening dress variants worn on many occasions, such as high school prom dances, formal dances, and entertainment industry award programs. The dress codes considered formal in the evening are white tie and black tie.

Raw and Cooked Foods

Eighty million species on earth (about 700,000 of which are animals) thrive on raw food. Only humans apply heat to what they eat. Humans on average as a race, die at or below half their potential life span of chronic illness that is largely diet and lifestyle related. Domesticated pets also are fed cooked, processed, packaged food that likewise is denatured by heat. As a consequence, they suffer human-like chronic ailments including cancer, arthritis and other degenerative diseases. Raw and Living Foods are foods that contain enzymes. In general, the act of heating food over 116 degrees F destroys enzymes in food. Enzymes start to degrade in as little as 106 degrees F. All cooked food is devoid of enzymes, furthermore cooking food changes the molecular structure of the food and renders it toxic. Living and raw foods also have enormously higher nutrient values than the foods that have been cooked. Enzymes are important because they assist in the digestion and absorption of food. If you eat food that is enzyme-less, your body will not get maximum utilization of the food. This causes toxicity in the body. Living and Raw foods both contain enzymes. In living foods, the enzyme content is much higher. Raw, unsprouted nuts contain enzymes in a "dormant" state. To activate the enzymes contained in almonds, for example, soak them in water for as just 24 hours. Once the almonds begin to sprout, the enzymes become "active" and are then considered living. In the context of this web site, the terms are used loosely.

Spicy and Sweet Foods

There are various different sorts of food out their for us to choose from. Their are two sort of foods that are different but the same as well and they are the sweet and spicy foods. A spice is a dried seed, fruit, root, bark, or vegetative substance used in nutritionally insignificant quantities as a food additive for flavor, color, or as a preservative that kills harmful bacteria or prevents their growth. In the kitchen, spices are distinguished from herbs, which are leafy, green plant parts used for flavoring. taste nerves are activated when consuming foods like chili peppers, the sensation commonly interpreted as "hot" results from the stimulation of somatosensory fibers in the mouth. Many parts of the body with exposed membranes that lack taste receptors produce a similar sensation of heat when exposed to pungent agents. Confectionery is the set of food items that are rich in sugar, any one or type of which is called a confection. Modern usage may include substances rich in artificial sweeteners as well. Confectionery items include sweets, lollipops, candy bars, chocolate, candy floss, and other sweet items of snack food. The term does not generally apply to cakes, biscuits, or puddings which require cutlery to consume, although exceptions such as petit fours or meringues exist. Speakers of American English do not refer to these items as "candy".

How Weather Affects Your Mood

Ever been cranky when it is too hot? Have you ever been listless or depressed when its cold or rainy? Can the weather affect our mood? This has always been an intriguing subject. It has been studied by scientists and sociologists. One would think so, just to make an educated guess, especially if it has happened to you. Like when the days are extremely hot, and you feel irritated or moody for no apparent reason. And what about when it is cold or rainy and gloomy and you feel sad, meloncoly, even depressed, but you can't quite put your finger on it. Is there any evidence to substantiate these seemingly bizarre occurances? Phenomenon? Or is there a direct connection between the two? There are studies that link weather with long periods of high temperatures to increase in crime. It is believed that people get irritable and hostile when it is extremely hot. Several law enforcement agencies have statistics that shows te correlation of the two. Think about how you felt if ever you had experienced a heat wave: hot, irritable, frustrated, maybe even angry. In conclusion, there is some evidence that says that the weather can affect our mood. But not documented, I believe we can judge for ourselves, as well. If you have ever been happy and energetic on a bright sunny day, or sad and depressed or lack of energy on winter days or rainy days, or if you have been irritable on an extremely hot day, you have proven that, the weather does have some physical, however minimal, and/or psychological affect on our mood.

Public Schooling and Homeschooling

Both provide education for anyone who wishes to learn. Homeschooling develops oneself (personality, beliefs, likes and dislikes, etc.) without too much outside influence. Pro-individuality. Another major difference is that their are not as many distractions from schoolwork. Home school associations provide abundant access to other homeschoolers to help develop social skills. Academically advanced due to one-on-one teaching. Also teaches a student to learn on their own, to teach themselves. While in public schools a child develops oneself within the general public; sometimes social skills are more quickly developed. More easily influenced by peer pressure. Generally not as academically advanced because of one teacher provided for many students. Proponents of home schooling believe that children thrive better in a safe, comfortable environment with which they are familiar. Ironically, so do advocates of public schooling. However, home-schoolers believe the home is the safest, most secure environment in which a child can learn. At home, a child does not have to deal with peer pressure or with fitting-in with the popular cliques. A child can just “be.” This gives the child the opportunity to focus on the lessons being taught and on the educational expectations required of him or her. Home-schooled students do not have to worry whether they are wearing the right clothes, the right shoes, or are shopping at the right stores or playing the right video games. Since there are (usually) no other children around, home-schooled children learn in a relatively calm, peaceful environment, and – most importantly – they usually have the opportunity to work at their own pace and in their own style. For some, that spells the difference between success and failure. Regular public school classrooms are not, by nature, relatively calm environments, especially at the elementary school level. However, that does not mean a student cannot thrive in such an environment. In fact, supporters of regular public schooling argue that the chaos of the classroom is actually what children need to succeed. Humans are social creatures. That is the belief of many regular public school proponents. Children should interact and to work with one another in order to build real, vital skills needed in the real world. For example, the advocates of regular public schooling believe that learning the reading process can certainly happen effectively at home. After all, they say, most kids do learn to read at home. However, the goal of public education is not to teach students simply how to read, solve math problems, or to solve scientific equations. If that was the case, home schooling would be the best option for everyone.

Understanding and Knowledge

Knowledge is something that people already know.We all know things that don't have to be taught to us because we already know it. Understand is something that is being taught by someone and we understand right away.Knowledge is something that someone we will always know something. To understand something is to have conceptualized it to a given measure. Knowledge is defined as expertise, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education, the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject, what is known in a particular field or in total; facts and information; or also the awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation. when we learn a type of subject that's a form of knowledge because once we learn it we will never forget what we learned. This is different from understanding in a way because for someone to understand something means they are still in the process of learning whatever that still needs to be taught.

An Interesting Person

The most interesting person that I know is my uncle Javier. To me he is a very special person. He is not only another close relative that gives me advice but also teaches me how to have fun in a clean and safe way. Although, I chose to write about him as an interesting person that I know because I can tell you so many stories about my uncle that probably no one would dare do. For example one time when he was in Mexico he was having so much fun and had always wanted to ride a bull. Many people may think that riding a bull is very dangerous but he thought otherwise, so he decided to ride the bull at the coleadero and in his time of fun, his face literally got smushed up against the poles of where the bull was released and from where he got on the bull. He was immediately went unconscious and was taken to the hospital and unfortunately he got a mark to remind him of his action. His right cheek bone was broken but luckily his wound heeled and he no longer has that mark.

Most Effective Teacher

The most effective teacher that I ever had was my sixth grade teacher Ms. Greer. She was very helpful and made learning fun. I definitely learned a lot with her. One of her most valuable qualities was that she was very patient and the fact that she knew her students very well. I felt that she understood each and everyone of her students and knew what motivated each of us and kept us going no matter what. That way when we said I can't learn this it's hard she said no it's not and yes you can learn this just look at it this way... We didn't just learn form her but she also learned from us like she mentioned throughout the year. If a student did not get it right away she would set time before or after school just to help you out so that you can get what you did not understood. She was also a very creative teacher and she would assign us projects that were fun and also helped us learn more. I had her for one year only and that was the most amazing year! Sadly, that was her last year as well, she moved to New York and I felt bad for the under underclassman because they wouldn't have the same and esciting experience like our class.

Not Enough Sleep

Many people now don't get the required sleep. Yes, this might seem very common as well but so is insomnia and many other sleeping disorders and these start off by missing a couple of hours of sleep by staying up late watching TV or on the phone. By doing this you don't realize that you are not simply missing out on sleep but you are affecting your body, life, academic performance and social life. Lack of sleep can ruin a day completely! When you are in school missing hours of sleep messes them up in school because when they are in school they are very sleepy and they are not paying attention in class and to others and you are literally falling asleep in class.Having a good night sleep will help them have a fresh start in the morning and they will be able to absorb all the information the teacher is ready to lecture on. It goes the same for those that go to work early in the morning. They will not be alert on their work and it is possible that if they keep that up they might get fired and then they will start to have economic problems in the future. This is why it is important to get a good night's sleep so that the next day you can be fresh and ready to start a new day.

My Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is "Life As We Know It", which came out in October 2010. It is a romantic comedy film starring  Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel as the two main characters. Katherine is Holly and Josh is Eric and in the film they were set up on a blind date by their friends, Peter and Allison who are married. A few years later after Peter and Allison were killed in an accident, they learn that Peter and Allison have named them as the guardians to their daughter, Sophie. So they move into their house and try their best to honor their friends' wishes. But raising a child puts a crimp on their style and they don't exactly get along. This film is far from perfect, but what it's attempting to explore is a bit mind boggling. How would two people who initially dislike each other find enough common ground to come together in the best interests of a child? You won't find a 'how to' here, but all the small moves and incidents rang true to me, and the result in the end, seems quite plausible to me, at least. Things happen when two people get thrown together like this and I doubt you'll have it illustrated more enjoyably than this any time soon.

Learning A New Language

Make sure that you study your new foreign language each and every day... even if for only a little bit! It's much better to study a little each day instead of in one big chunk once per week. The reason is that studying each day will keep the content fresh in your mind and cut down on the amount of time you need to review each time you study your target language. Short sessions each day keep you moving forward. Vocabulary is important for learning any new language. It doesn't matter how much grammar you know, if you don't know the words, you won't get the meaning. So, make sure you have some way of keeping track of the new words you come across in your studies. You can either keep a list or take notes. Be sure to do something fun in the language you are studying! Don't just read grammar books and do textbook exercises all day. If you do this, you will soon find yourself getting bored and not wanting to continue your studies. If you read an interesting magazine article, listen to a song or watch a movie in your target language, not only will you be having a good time but you'll end up learning some more of your language without even realizing it!

My Favorite Music Video

My favorite music video is, "you belong with me" by Taylor Swift. I love this song because its a love song about a girl telling a guy that he belongs with her and no other girl. The song's concept is basically about wanting someone who is with this girl who doesn't appreciate him at all and how you like this guy who you have for your whole life, and you know him better than she does but somehow the popular girl gets the guy every time. The video is so cute. The video commences with Till arguing with his girlfriend through a phone call. As soon as Swift, as the protagonist, notices, they begin to communicate by holding up signs through their bedroom windows. Till closes his curtains, and Swift holds up a sign saying, "I love you". As the song's chorus approaches, Swift starts to sing and dance in front of a mirror, changing to different clothing multiple times. Afterward, Swift is sitting in a bench while reading a book. Till arrives and the two converse. Then, Swift, as the antagonist, arrives in a red convertible car and Till gets in it; Swift, as the antagonist, kisses him and gives a vicious look towards the protagonist. Suddenly, she is seen cheerleading at a football game while Swift's other persona is in the bleachers, performing in the school band. After scoring the winning touchdown, Till moves toward his girlfriend and finds her flirting with a teammate; meanwhile, Swift, as the protagonist, stares in amazement. Back in their bedroom windows, they again communicate through signs, Till asked Swift, as the protagonist, if she was attending prom and she responded, "no, studying". Shortly after, Swift is seen entering prom with a white dress, no longer looking like a nerd, while all her peers stare in amazement. When Till spots her, he walks towards her and Swift, as the antagonist, attempts to impede him, but he ignores her. Ending the video, Till and Swift reveal letters saying "I love you" and kiss.

Teenage Fad

The popularity of the “Twilight” series, both the books and movies, and television hits like HBO’s “True Blood” might be causing some kids to imitate the behavior of their favorite vampires. Teens are even using Internet sites like YouTube to post videos of their bites, usually involving the arm, face or neck. Nneka Holder, an adolescent medicine specialist at Akron Children’s Hospital, warns that a human bite is not something to trivialize. “Human mouths are not much cleaner than a dog’s mouth,” said Holder, who added that bites that cause infection could land a child in the hospital. Some people bite or give hickeys as a sign of possession, warning others to keep away from the victim. Anything done like that to show ownership is not a healthy relationship. Teens’ attraction to vampire tales is nothing new. Vampires lure us into our dark side, and for some of us, that is a thrilling literary adventure. I think vampire movies . . . are popular because they are so exotic, especially in ‘Twilight’s’ case. You have unconventional vampires that don’t eat humans, but rather are ‘vegetarians’ that eat animal blood. Mentioning the ‘Twilight Saga Eclipse’ and the ‘True Blood’ series by HBO, the ‘CBS Early Show’ reported that fans may have taken the vampire premise a bit too far when it comes to this latest craze. Fans are showing affection to each other by biting and drawing blood. This could cause a series of health problems, but more importantly, it is a fad that is caused by biting another person. These bite marks are seen on tweens, teens and even young adults all over visible body parts. The more bite marks, the more you are “loved”.

Relationships Between People and Animals

Did you ever wonder why so many people own pets? Americans own more than 500 million pets and spend more than 14 billion dollars a year to feed and care for them. Animals' popularity with humans is largely due to their ability to lower our stress levels. Simply interacting with an animal creates and endorphin rush in the human body which in turn relieves stress. All of nature's components have this same effect on people, making the environment we choose to live in extremely important to our health. It has been proven that people who live in rural areas amidst nature's splendor are healthier than those existing in man made environments. Most people instinctively know this, which is the reason why so many, especially those in cities, own pets. It might seem surprising that 58% of urban and suburban households own pets but when we stop to consider the positive results they produce in our overall well-being, it seems more surprising that every household doesn't include one. Animals are a part of nature that is too often overlooked despite the extensive benefits they provide for us.

My Luscious Dessert

I think that the most luscious and decadent dessert is the chocolate mousse tort. I thought I want something that Is semi baked since it is winter time. Then I thought of chocolate mousse but frowned upon it since it was cold and it was winter time so not a good combination and researched and found a chocolate mousse tort! When i found it it seemed amazing! This consists of three layers of chocolate mousse – from the top down, white chocolate-orange mousse, gianduja (milk chocolate with toasted hazelnut paste) mousse and i love alice medrich. The combination of textures and (albeit all chocolate) flavors in this trio of mousses as you describe them seems amazing! My mouth is watering of imagining all of the chocolate melting in my mouth and it follows my standards of being semi baked and this dessert requires you to bake half of the mousse mixture. I must confess that the fact that you had to bake only half of the mousse mixture intrigued me but it also met my requirements.

Life Without Cellphones

A Cell-phone is such an interesting gadget and it's getting remarkably smaller in size day by day and amazingly with all the possible Applications on it. It sure has become a very interesting machine. I have seen people carrying it everywhere...u name it such as bed, restroom, while bathing. No activity is a lonesome one anymore. We have it near us and we tend to navigate the APPs even while talking to someone or shopping. Boy, where are our manners?Life would be completely different without cell phones because I have come to wonder how my life would be without a cell phone? My answer was simply that it would be DULL! How would I keep myself entertained after doing all the norms of the day? How would I connect to the world? How would I know that all is well at the other end of my world i.e. my loved ones? I gotta keep up with my score of games and watch out for my friend's who score even out with me on games. I gotta keep it near me just in case of an emergency. I see myself running frantically with out it. You see...this is a world for winners so, how can I lay low for once...nay can't.

Paris!

I have always wanted to visit Paris, France, one of the most popular short city break destinations with many famous sights to see, fashionable shops, chic cafes and gourmet restaurants to enjoy Paris is one of the leading cities for fashion design brands and perfumes. Since I do enjoy walking, walking is a good way to explore the city itself which is divided into districts, the metro system also makes it easy to get around. There are several boat trips from Seine River Cruises to Paris Canal Cruises taking you past many of the major tourist sights in Paris. I have always wanted to see inside Notre-Dame from which I can admire two magnificent rose windows. I would also like to see the Arc de Triomphe in the middle of place Charles de Gaulle it towers above the traffic. Down from the Arc de Triomphe is the famous Avenue des Champs – Élysées which is lined with cafes, fast food chains, cinemas, shopping malls! The Musée du Louvre, this impressive museum houses world famous works of art and many magnificent collections. I would love to see the painting of the Mona Lisa. The Eiffel Tower is a landmark of Paris and definitely another must see attraction for me. I have heard that after dusk at the start of every hour the lights twinkle from the structure, a spectacle well worth seeing. There are many places to eat where you can enjoy a variety of food as well as good regional French cuisine there are no shortages of restaurants, patisseries/ cafés, wine bars and beer cellars to try.

College in Another State

Going to college is a very big step for any person. Now if they decide to attend college in another state they would have to look at various things and complete simple tasks as well. first and for most they would have to look into their living situation. Are they going to live in the dorms or are they going to be staying with a relative if they  have any? Also, they would have to figure out how it is that they are suppose to pay for the out of state admission tax since they are out of state. Another, major thing is to figure out if they are going to work or not and if it will be able to fit in their schedule. You will need to find a job if your parents aren't able to pay for your college and your personal needs or if you don't have enough money with the scholarships and the grants. You will also have to know how is it that you will be able to transport yourself once you are in another state. Once you have figured out your living situation and money wise problems you will have to know how it is that you are going to transport your things to that other state and how you are going to get their as well. Also, who will be paying for your plane ticket and for moving your belongings? Once you have figured all of this you will be set for your future in college. I wish you the best of luck!

My Best Friend's Birthday

If I were to plan my best friend's birthday party I would do anything to make her birthday unforgettable and very fun! First,  I would pick the date of the party. Although having a party on her exact birthday may seem ideal, sometimes my schedule or her schedule just won't allow that and I'll have to make it sometime before or after her real birthday. Second, I need to choose who she want's at her party. Now for the best part: planning the party! But first and foremost, I'll have to send out invitations to the guests. Next, I will have to decide on the entertainment and since I know she loves Mexican band music and all of her friends and family members love it as well, I will provide live entertainment from a Band. Next, I have to decide what food I would like to serve. I have decided to have a Mexican buffet so that everyone can sample a little bit of everything. Some foods that I want to be sure to include are chicken fajitas, warm flour tortillas, chili con queso, tortilla soup, Mexican rice, black bean and corn salsa, and margaritas. I would decorate each table with colorful fiesta theme paper goods and tie the napkins with raffia dyed red or green. Add a glowing margarita glass to each place setting or set them up at the buffet! Also as each guest enters the party, take his/her picture with a giant sombrero on their head with a personalized Fiesta camera. I would also place small vases in a variety of colors to make wonderful centerpieces when they're filled with fiesta flowers. Wrap the napkins in colorful chili pepper bracelets for a wonderful table accent. This would definitely be a party that my best friend would remember!

The 70's

If I were able to live in any decade I would choose the 70's. Many important and tragic things occurred during this period of time. The microprocessor is introduced during this marvelous age period. This era was also the end of the Gold Standard for American Currency in 1971. NASA and the Soviets send probes to Mars. The NASA Mariner 9 became the first spacecraft to orbit another planet on November 14th. The Soviets Mars 2 and Mars 3 arrived a month later, and sent a probe down to the planet. A tragedy that occurred was the three cosmonauts that died after record breaking trip in space of 24 days. Also, the Pentagon Papers are released to newspapers and despite an attempt to conceal the evidence researched by the government, the 47 volume study was given to the New York Times and The Washington Post who printed excerpts from the study. It revealed that Eisenhower had been warned against involvment by his generals, Kennedy had approved the overthrow of the Sout Vietnam president, and Johnson's covert operations had sparked the Tonkin Gulf incident. Another major thing was that cigarette ads were banned from the television and that the first floppy disc was created for computers. Also, China joined the UN.

Appreciating My Parents

Everyone I believe takes for granted what they have until they are losing what they loved and treasured without acknowledging the other person. I on the other hand don't want to be like that so I have taken the liberty to write this piece or work in order to tell my parents that I appreciate them and why. First off, I would like to thank them for bringing me into this world. If it weren't for them I would not be here now and I would've never had such wonderful parents. I would also like to thank them for being their for me and leading me towards the right path in life. Both of my parents are very hard workers and want the best for me. My parents have always been their for me for good or bad times. They have loved me every single step of my life and tried to comprehend the decisions which they disapprove of. My parents may be hard on me at times but I know that they do it in order to help me chose the right decision and not make the same mistakes that they made but my own mistakes! Both of my parents have loved me and been their for me and have given me the strength to go on with life and for that and much more I love them and appreciate them.

A New Person From Another Country

I was asked to interview and write an article on a newly arrived foreigner. In order to complete this task of course I would have to ask personal questions and be as friendly and honest as possible. I would first of all introduce myself, then I would ask for his name. After the introductions, I would ask him to please take a seat and tell me about his life since the beginning. I would try and help him out by handing him the questions. I would ask him; How old are you? When were you born? Where were you born? Who are your parents? What city and country were you raised in? Do you have any hobbies? If so please specify. I would then go into foods and ask him; what is your favorite food and beverage? Then I would continue by asking him if he has any siblings and if so how many and what are their ages? I would then ask him why is it that he came to the U.S? Then I would continue on by asking the person what he/she want to do with their life in the future and if they have someone in particular to fight for and make proud other than his/her parents/ family members. This sort of information would be included in the article that I would write of the foreigner .

Preserving Family History

I have always been intrigued by family history, especially my family history. In order to try and preserve my family history I would ask my parents questions about their ancestors and take notes of what they say. Some of the questions that I may ask them would be concerning with traditions, holidays, races, languages, and family heirlooms? I would want to know everything! i know that my parents may not know everything concerning with their ancestors and that is why i would take it upon myself to ask my grandparents the same sort of questions. I would ask them, what were the traditions that they accustomed in their culture all year round such as holidays, birthdays, marriages, baptisms, confirmations, and any other special occassion? I would also ask them if they spoke any other language other than spanish and if they liked keeping in touch with their culture and if so why and what was their culture? Some other questions that I would ask would be, were all of your ancestors natives from Mexico? I would also like to know of folk tales and if they believed in them and told stories as well. I know that my grandparents and my parents would be proud of me trying to learn and indulge myself in my culture.

Setting As The World

The house for which I drew the floor plan of, is the house in which I grew up in and currently live in as well. During these past seventeen years of my life many memories have been made in my house. A place that plays an important part in my childhood memories and my current memories is the kitchen. since I can remember our kitchen has been used to cook most of the family food for the holidays, birthdays and family reunions. I remember that our kitchen smells wonderful, filling the air with marvelous aroma's. The whole family gathers in the kitchen to talk, joke around, and most importantly, to eat. Whether it is cold or hot the kitchen is always the place in which the parties end up in, because it is the main house of the whole family. When it is especially cold, the family goes into the kitchen because it is the warmest place in the whole house. Since it is cold, my mom always bakes cookies and bread and has a pot of hot chocolate or coffee on the stove and everyone finds their way into the kitchen. I always find myself in the kitchen during any social event because everyone is enjoying themselves, eating, drinking, talking, laughing, and joking around. I love how everyone always makes me laugh by what they have to say and the things that they say. To me the kitchen definitely represents a safety zone. I say this because the kitchen is always bright in color and in mood! The color of the kitchen is yellow and I always find my mom in their singing along with the songs from the radio. As soon as you set foot in the kitchen you feel better.

Choose the right college

Choosing where you want to go to college is an extremely personal -- and frequently stressful -- decision that teens and their families have to make. It's best to start this process as early as possible, ideally in the junior year of high school. When you think about schools, you need to consider what you really want in an education. Do you want to be trained for a specific line of work or do you want a more general liberal arts education? A pre-professional education prepares you for a specific job and includes areas such as engineering and pre-med. Some schools like M.I.T. have very strong programs for those interested in the sciences but might not be right for someone interested in literature. A liberal arts education, on the other hand, aims to equip you with general knowledge and reasoning skills suitable for many jobs. Here’s a key question to ask every college: How does the college rank in the major you want to study? Universities are stronger in some areas and weaker in others. While it may be too early for you to know whether you want to major in English or history, check out how strong the programs and professors are in the various fields you are considering. One indication of how much emphasis a university places on a major is to find out how many students are studying that major, how many courses are offered in the field and how many faculty members teach the courses associated with that major and others like it. This should give you an idea as to the size of the department and the range of courses. If you want a major in a narrow field, you might have to consider a larger university.

Master Plan

Do you want your community to be a better place to live? Don’t just sit back and wait for it to happen. Get involved. Take action. Don’t just sit back and wait for your community to get better by itself. You need to get involved. Find out what you can do to make it a better place to live. Attend community meetings and put your two cents in. Volunteer your time, energy, money and yourself. If there is a park clean up day, volunteer to help. Volunteer to help local businesses or homes clean graffiti off walls. Get a group of people together and pick up trash on the streets or in planters on the side of the road in your community. Pick up the trash at local parks or on local beaches. Volunteer at your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter. Get to know your neighbors. Know the people who live around you. Building a strong community is a team effort. You can’t do it all on your own. So get to know your neighbors and make it a goal to make your community a better place to live. Support your local leaders. Get involved with volunteering at campaign time. You can also volunteer during election time. Get to know the people that are running your town. Be sure to research and become educated on prospective candidates and issues to be voted on. When it comes time to vote, turn your ballot in. You can also sign up for absentee vote if you are unable to make it to the voting site. Start a neighborhood watch. Keep your community safe by starting neighborhood watches. The members of the community will get involved and look out for one another. If there are suspicious looking people or suspicious activity in one’s neighborhood, local crime enforcement is contacted. Neighbors look out for each other to keep their neighborhoods safe. Be patient. Realize that making your community a better place to live will not happen overnight. It will take time, energy and money to get the job done. Remember, don’t sit back and wait for it to happen. You have to get involved!

Typical Day in my life

A typical day in my life will be waking up at 6:30 every weekday and showering right after I wake up and get ready to go to school. Later on I go back to my room and fix my bed and get my things ready to head out the door. Then I place my bag on the couch and head out to the kitchen to grab something to eat. Afterwards I head out back to the bathroom to brush my teeth. After I am done brushing my teeth I grab the car keys and head out the door and turn the car until its warm and then I head out to school. I usually arrive to school around 7:45 a.m. and as I wait for my first class to commence I usually stand up and talk with my friends that are their already or sit-down depending if its cold or hot. Then when the school day is finally over I head home and put my things in my room and head out to the bathroom to wash my hands and then go to the kitchen to eat what my mom cooked for the family.

Vegetable I Truly Dislike

Everyone has a certain fruit or vegetable, which they truly dislike. A lot of people dislike green vegetables for some apparent reason. Yes, vegetables are healthy for you but I can't help it if they taste disgusting again. The vegetable that I truly dislike are peas. Now I know that peas are supposed to be "healthy" for you but I think they are the most disgusting thing in the world. I have tried to like peas on multiple occasions but for some reason my tongue finds them absolutely repulsive. Even if I do not see a pea in my food my tongue will find it and send a red flad to my brain saying, "YUCK!!!." What make me even more angry is when peas are put into fried rice. Someone has now ruined perfectly good fried rice by adding those disgusting round green vegetable to it.

My favorite Season

My favorite season of them all I would have to say that it will have to be the summer. I chose this season because of the fact that we are on our summer vacation and won't have to worry about any school work. I can just focus on having fun and relaxing. I will have time to go to the beach and relax and hang out with my friends. During this long vacation I can plan a vacation to a nice warm beach full of young tourists! I love this season because of the fact that it's nice and warm outside and we are able to where nice casual clothes and the sun is simply breathe taking when it's setting. The most important thing is that I won't have to worry about getting sick at all because their will not be any cold weather what so ever! That is why the summer season is my favorite season out of all.

Brothers and Sisters

In a house with more than one kid, there are bound to be some problems. Brothers and sisters borrow stuff, and don't always return it in top condition. Younger kids sometimes feel like the older kids get to do whatever they want. Older brothers and sisters think that the baby of the family gets more attention. These are typical problems found throughout the ages, everywhere in the world. When brothers and sisters don't get along, it's called sibling rivalry. A sibling is a brother or sister and rivalry means competition. It's normal, but too much competition can make for an unhappy home life. Some sibling rivalry involves arguing, like when you think your brother is hogging the ball. People who love each other might argue sometimes, but too much fighting is unpleasant for everyone. It may make you feel better to focus more on doing your own personal best, rather than comparing yourself with a brother or sister. All kids want attention from their parents, but sometimes you need to take turns. If you're feeling ignored or like your sibling is always in the spotlight, talk to your mom or dad. If a parent knows you're feeling left out, together you can figure out ways to help you feel better again. Take a deep breath and think a bit. Try to figure out if you are angry with the person or just frustrated with the situation.  Remind yourself that you have special talents. Your sister may have won an art contest, but you might be better at basketball, or math, or singing.

State of the art computer

A computer these days is almost a necessity for everyone, and an expensive necessity at that. Whether for fun or for work, it is not uncommon to see multiple computers in a household. More and more people are even purchasing laptops for their size and convenience. Purchasing a computer can be tricky and intimidating with all the jargon salesmen might throw out at you when in the store. With such an expensive purchase, you want to be precise and happy with your buying experience. This may be the biggest decision and can also affect the costs, depending on if you want a desktop or laptop. If it is going to sit in a permanent location at home and be used by multiple people, a desktop may be your best bet for price and performance. If you want something smaller or something you can travel with, a laptop may be for you. Buying a computer is very expensive and an item you probably will need to save up for in order to purchase. While you are saving, you should be doing your research. Go into stores and ask as many questions as possible. Find out the difference between computers and which parts and hardware are most important for how you are going to use the computer. Research online as well. You may be able to find electronic and computer sites that sell the computer for less. Over time, the prices may drop as you are continuing to save making the purchase a little bit less expensive.

College Admission Test

You have just been informed that you are required to take a college admissions test if you are to be accepted into the college. I say to you don't freak out. Trust in yourself and most definitely sleep early the night before the exam and the very next morning have a healthy breakfast in order to do well. You will also need to prepare yourself not only mentally but emotionally as well. Try and study the subject in which you will be tested in and if you are completely unaware then simply study math and English because those two are the most likely and common subjects in which you are tested. If you are having any difficulties then you can ask for help in someone who understand whatever it is that you are having difficulties with or you can get help from a tutor who knows exactly what they are doing. You have to be very prepared because in order to get accepted you have to do well in that admissions test, so don't procrastinate.

Ending a Relationship

If you want to end a relationship the best thing to do will be to try and talk to the person in a civilized manner to end things in a good way. You have to let that person know immediately how it is that you feel and express to them everything that it is that you feel. This will be sort of difficult to certain people to do because they may not know how to express themselves. If that is the case then you can simply send a blunt text or a wordy text ending the relationship with your boyfriend or girlfriend. Another thing to end a relationship will be to simply avoid that person or just tell them "you know what this isn't working out anymore so this has to come to an end." Don't be wishy washy, thinking to let the other person down easy. Hold strong, you have already made your decision. This does not need to be dramatic, escalating event. Ending a relationship on the phone is acceptable and even recommended in some cases. If your ex is prone to outburst, violence, or manipulative behaviors, this is much safer and prevents the dumpee from the embarrassment of having you watch his or torment.

How to make a new friend

Isn't it great to always make new friends?  One way to make a new friend is that you have to portray yourself in a friendly manner and always show good charisma. That way people will think that you are a good person and will want to talk to you. You will need to talk to different people even if you don't know them. A very important thing that you should always do is that you should always be yourself no matter what. Once you have gotten to know them you might come to learn is that you have some similarities and then once you have gotten acquainted you can invite that person later on to do something to continue or commence a beautiful friendship. Everyday people make new friends by utilizing some of these techniques. Therefore with these helpful tips what are you waiting for to utilize them to help you in your social life and to meet new people.

My Favorite Game

My favorite game is volleyball and i enjoy this sport very much. This game is very interesting and fun as well. This game can be played practically anywhere as long as you have a volleyball. Many people enjoy this game very much as well and is usually played at the beach or at a volleyball court. This game is very exciting and thrilling. I am not much of a sports person nor a player but with this game I get very caught up with it. I usually play this game with my family and friends in our backyard or in the park whenever we have time to do so. This game to me relieves me from the stress of my life and worries. I enjoy very much competing against others and playing with others as well as a team and when i hit the ball I don't think of anything else rather than the game itself and feel super relieved! I personally love this game and feel that it is the best game ever and i shall always love this game!

Prejudice

You may ask yourself what is prejudice? Well, the definition of dictionary.com says  that it is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason. The word prejudice is most commonly used to refer to a preconceived judgement toward people or a person because of their race, social class, gender, ethnicity, age, political beliefs, religion, sexual orientation or any other personal characteristics. It also means beliefs without knowledge of the facts and may include any unreasonable attitude that is unusually resistant to rational influence. Many people become prejudice towards other people on stereotypes and believe what other people say when those things are not true. They let themselves be tricked and influenced by others and therefore they act and say certain things to others based on the opinions of other people.

Impulse Buying

Many people enjoy spending their well earned money in the mall or their favorite stores purchasing whatever it is that they need or require. Although, while at their favorite store they decide to purchase an object or something that they did not go to the store for and when people tend to do this they are referred to as impulse buyers. Many people become impulse buyers because they have been bombarded with advertisement of a product that they do not need and more the less so require. Research shows that when people go to the store with an empty belly and hungry that they will crave things and therefore when they see things in the store that they like when they don't need it they will end up purchasing more than what they expected to buy. That is why you should always go to the store when you are not hungry. Some of the effects of impulse buying is that your house will be filled with unnecessary things that are just junking your house and taking up space. You will also end up spending almost all of your money in your savings and will over spend as well. Impulse buying has its causes and its effects and for sure the effects are not the least bit satisfactory.

Visitors from another planet

As you may havae come to notice planet Earth is a beautiful planet filled with desirable qualities such as greenery, a lot of water. You may have also come to have noticed landfills and the pollution that is harming and destroying our gorgeous planet. Well, you may be asking yourselves, "How did such a gorgeous planet come to be polluted?" The answer to that my extraterrestrial friends is that our people produce millions of waste and have to find a place in which to place all of that waste and we cut down forests and destroy natural habitats in which to dump our waste. Although, one place in which to place our waste is not enough because we overfill it and will need a new place in which to place our waste. We also seem to require a lot of paper and well you see paper comes from trees so millions of acres are cut down in order to produce the paper that we "require", thus killing our beautiful environment and along with it exterminating all of the forests inhabitants which are animals that have slowly come to be extinct or simply have become rare species.  You may have also come to have notice that their is a lot of smoke in the sky that it makes it hard to breathe and see the sky as well. All of that smoke is produced by factories and cars that are used and produced by us the human beings of this planet. Along side those factories comes the waste that is dumped into our oceans and they just contaminate our waters. With years of this occurring it has started to make its harm by harming our planet and people need to make a major change in their life.

Modern Life Without Computers

Can you imagine life without computers? I can't even picture a day without a computer because it seems highly impossible and i believe that it would make things more difficult! Without computers the invention of the internet would not have existed and we would have to write our papers by hand how horrible! Just imagine all of the blisters that your hand will have and all of the trouble that you would have to go through when doing some research by not having a computer or the internet. That sounds horrible and I can only imagine or think of that in a nightmare. In the modern life of today everybody is so competitive and require and need things almost at the tips of their finger tips, but how will they be able to obtain what they require if they aren't able to utilize a computer because they simply don't exist anymore. Without computers our lives will become living nightmares and it will definitely set our society back.

Good Driver

A lot of people have the desire to drive in order to move around without the help of somebody else, but not everyone is a good driver though. For those people to learn how to drive they will need to take driving lessons from an instructor or a close friend or relative that will be willing to teach them and have a clean record when it comes to driving.  In order to become a good driver you will need to follow all of the rules and regulations and you will also have to be a very precautious driver as well. Also when it comes to driving in severe weather I highly recommend for you not to drive but if necessary to drive in the fog don't drive approximatively 10-15 mph slower and drive with your high beams on because they will blind you. You are also to be very aware of all of your surroundings at all times and are not to drive with loud music because that will impair your hearing and you will not be able to hear an ambulance, police car, or a fire engine. Another major factor that you should take into account is to be relaxed and in a good mood because that way you will not be frustrated and have the need to speed or honk at other cars.

Alejandro Fernandez

Alejandro Fernandez, son of Mexican music star Vicente Fernandez, is one of the most famous Mexican singers of ballads, love songs, and mariachi music. Well known outside Mexico, Fernandez has played in many of the world's great venues, including New York's Madison Square Garden. His songs have appeared regularly atop the Latin pop charts since his album debut in 1991; in 2000 he was awarded the Latin Grammy for Best Ranchero Performance. In 2000-01 he received the Tito Guizar Award for Best Singer and Performer in Mexican and Hispanic Music.  Alejandro was born in 1971 in Mexico City, and raised in the Mexican city of Guadalajara. Growing up, he and his family divided their time between the country, where Fernandez learned to ride horses, and the city. This gave him the experience he needed to sing equally well of both the Mexican countryside and its rancheros, and of city life.
Since his father is the renowned Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez, music was an integral part Fernandez's home life, which also contributed to his later success. His father Vicente Fernandez was the most important and influential ranchera singer in the world. This has given his son a great deal to live up to, but he seems equal to the challenge. Fernandez first performed in public when he was just four years old. His father had brought him on tour to the United States, and at a concert in San Antonio, Texas, brought his son on stage to play with him. Facing a crowd of 10,000 people, Fernandez performed the song "Alejandra." The experience had a profound effect on him; he broke down in tears immediately afterward.

What makes me special

Everyone in the world has a certain characteristic or something in particular that distinguishes and sets them apart from everybody else. I am no exception to that, and I as well am different and special in my very own unique ways! One thing that is very unique about me is my name, Yaritza. My name sounds similar to many other names that are common such as Maritza and Danitza, but I have never heard or seen it with a Y. Just like my name is very different so is my personality, it sets me apart from others. I hardly ever let someone pass by without me noticing what they are wearing, yes this might sound judgmental and simply wrong but I can't help myself and that is what makes part of me! I love clothing and fashion, so what can I say, I will always notice little things like that. Also, I am one that will try to do the impossible in order for things to go my way and only way! I tend to be sort of controlling, but then again depending on the situation i definitely don't mind a couple of extra set of hands or minds for that matter. I try to be very positive, but remember that I am only as sweet and nice as you are to me. Just like any other person I love music, but i practically listen to any type of music but especially banda music, rancheras, and country music.

Pride in One's work

Many people seem to view pride as a negative trait to have. Many say that by having this trait or characteristic that It makes a person seem cocky and stubborn and often makes them believe they don’t need anyone else’s help or advice. However, by having pride in one’s own work is extremely important. That way yo will be able to show everyone what you did and will be able to take the proper credit for what it is that you accomplished and will be able to maybe someday exhibit your work in a museum, art gallery or even a library. By having pride in your own work can help you shape up your life and maybe help shape up another individuals life as well. If you poured your heart and soul into a piece of work and took the time to actually do it, it deserves to have your approval. You need to be proud of your work because perhaps no one else will. You can never please everyone and sometimes you won’t please anyone. Therefore, you should only please yourself. It is perfectly ok to be humble sometimes; in fact, humbleness is a virtue. However, pride is a virtue as well. It shows you acknowledge that you took the responsibility to take on a task and you executed that task with as much precision as you could.

Diversity

The definition of diversity is a variety or a point of difference. To get an even better perspective on the word diversity I decided to also look up its root word, diverse. Diverse means of a different kind, form, character, etc. and it also means of various kinds or forms. Based on these definitions I can conclude that diversity means a variety or wide range of one thing. One example of this would be race. When I hear the word diversity the first thing that comes to my mind is color or race. It also brings people together from every part of the world. Being diverse means that you are willing and can cooperate and work with other people with different backgrounds, races, and colors. By adding diversity to your life you will make things easier not only for yourself but for others as well, because you will not be that difficult to get along with, talk to, or work with. Everywhere you look you will find diversity. Having diversity among us is very beautiful because we get to see different things. There are many things out there we see every day and also many other things that we are yet to discover. Every person is diverse, there are no two people alike. It would be boring if there was no diversity. It would be such as if I was looking at a plain white paper every time and every day. Diversity means to be different or have variety.

Cooperation

In the dictionary, cooperation is defined as an act or instance of working or acting together for a common purpose or benefit. When we cooperate, we are working together towards a goal that will benefit all of us. This is also what cooperation means to me. Cooperation is working with people that perhaps you do not socialize with, yet you are all in agreement that what you are doing will be beneficial to all of us. This in turn teaches us to be tolerant of others. Cooperation also happens to be one of the six pillars of character. To me cooperation is when everyone works together to achieve something. We are all encouraged to use cooperation to accomplish our class work in school. Cooperation is important because it is essential to our learning environment. If cooperation did not exist, many things could not be done. Everyone would be working alone without help and it could be possible that many of those things will not get completed. It takes ones person to start something, and without cooperation this would not be possible.

Communication

Communication over the past 20 years has changed a lot. Twenty years ago, if you wanted to have a conversation with someone that lived in a different state, then you’d have to dial the number on a phone and see if the person would pick up. You might have also needed to write a letter and send it through the mail most likely wait about a couple of weeks in order for the person to reply if they lived in a different state or country. Now however, computers and cell phones have revolutionized communication. With social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, we no longer have to call people if we want to talk to them. We merely have to send them a “Tweet” or write on their wall. People can now easily communicate by talking or texting through their cell phone. Before it was common that you just used house phones, but now you can choose from a variety of cell phones and companies. House phones as well have improved. They have a built in caller id to make it easier for you to know who is calling your house. They are also way much smaller than before. They have also invented Bluetooth for cell phones. This helps for those that are driving or for those that always have their hands occupied at work. With the way communication has changed, our life has been made easier.

Techniques or Methods Teachers Can Use

Some techniques or methods that teachers can utilize in order to do their job more effectively will be to have more passion towards whatever it is that they teach. With passion comes determination and with determination comes learning and any method possible in order to get your students to learn and enjoy your class. A method they can use to make their job more effectively would be to always have their students occupied on an activity that is fun, but also about learning. The teacher should balance it out so that the students will be able to enjoy the subject. It would also be a great idea to give out prizes or rewards when they accomplish their assignment correctly and neatly. Teachers should always be willing to listen to student on what they have to say. Some teachers these days are very rude. They ignore what you have to say and don’t let you have a say. The most important technique or “method” is to make the lesson or class as fun as possible. Who wants to learn in dull environment, learning should be something fun. Who doesn’t want to know more the person next to you? There are several different and effective ways of teaching. It isn’t wrong trying something new. But by making the class fun doesn’t mean you can’t be strict at the same time either. There are rules and should be enforced.

conveniences

Many people tend to look for shortcuts in life in order to make their lives a lot easier for them and we find it awfully hard to let go of those habits in life. Practically people would only do whatever is to their convenience now. Although, by doing so their will be positive outcomes and negative ones as well. An example of a negative outcome of utilizing a convenience such as a calculator is that you will get accustomed to them and will to everything with the calculator and you will no longer think for yourself when it comes to solving problems. Yes, a convenience such as this one will make our lives much easier, but have also made us impotent to complete simple tasks without taking shortcuts. There are also positive conveniences and those are the ones that you want to practice, only if you need too. With various factors of conveniences that we have available to us we have come to depend on them a lot.

Fame and Fortune

Many people often dream of obtaining fame and fortune, but at what cost will they be willing to obtain these things? Many people obtain these two things in various different ways. Some people may obtain them by using their skills and talents in order to help them get them. Someone who wants to achieve something in life and become the very best at it needs to work very hard at it. The road to fame and fortune comes with sacrifice. It may be the lost of friends or less social time, time for other things, maybe even money. The road to fame and fortune does not come easy or fast.Once you get have the fame and fortune your life changes completely. It comes with lot responsibilities. Fame and fortune has its pros and cons. You are always being watched so you need watch what you do, you have a loss of privacy, basically you can’t do anything wrong. People will always see you differently. People will be friends just because you are famous; basically respect comes with fame and fortune. Last but not least money wouldn’t be an issue. With money you have power.

Major environmental problem/ Recycling

Many people seem to lack to care about the environment. They seem to forget that that we are nothing but mere inhabitants of the planet Earth and that we are destroying the environment in which we live in by not recycling. Literally millions of plastics such as water bottles are thrown away in the ocean, on the street, or simply anywhere and people who tend to do that do not realize that they are affecting the environment. People should be more considerate for where they live and form groups and go out and clean up. It would be nice if instead of advertising inappropriate things they advertised recycling billboards or commercials on television. Not everyone is aware of this problem, so it would be best that everyone be informed as soon as possible. We have to protect our planet and take care of the things that live in it. Everyone should take part in this. It is starting to become a big issue, and it is our job to make sure that it doesn’t end up harming our environment completely. If it becomes a problem we can not fix we will all regret not doing our job and we will live like pigs and live very unhealthy and dangerous short lives if we do not take care of the environment. Recycle and help out our planet.

Public Health Concerns/ Obesity

Many people seem to see obesity and have come to accept it as normal. Yes, I do agree that many babies are born over normal weight, but in their childhood they are introduced to bad eating habits and start obesity at such a young age. Obesity is not normal and very unhealthy, with obesity comes various different sort of health problems that people develop. Some of the health problems may be, high cholesterol, a short life, respiration problems, social problems, heart problems etc. Since most Americans are obese now obesity isn't seen as an abnormal or unhealthy thing but as a common thing. I highly believe that that should completely stop because obesity is a major problem that is affecting literally everyone! Not only adults are obese but now it is quite common for children to be obese because of the eating habits that their parents have instilled upon them. By looking upon obesity as a major problem and acting immediately to solve this problem millions of lives would be saved and many people will be able to life and have a normal life of which they can be proud of. Many obese people lack a social life for the fact that they  are obese because the people who are not obese mock them or are simply disgusted by them, but the people who are obese should not simply try and combat obesity for the sake of other people but for their own benefit. By acting upon this they will improve their lives 100%.

Causes and problems resulting from teenage smoking

Many teenagers commence smoking for various different reasons, but many others start for all of the wrong ones as well. Some of the teenagers might start smoking because they might have problems at home and by smoking they can find it as an escape and feel better about themselves. By depending on something to feel better about themselves is completely wrong becuase we should not need anybody else to feel better and more the less something else, because these problems can become psychological. By taking their first step in smoking, without them realizing it they will have become rebels and not do too well in life and simply make very bad decisions in life. Many commence smoking because of the people that they know and hang out with. The teenagers that smoke may have their reasons but what they don't realize is that they are not only harming themselves but others as well. By smoking they are shortening their life span and can develop lung problems and cause cancer to themselves, when they were perfectly healthy. Also, the teenage smokers don't realize that they have become hooked on the cigarettes and need something stronger to keep their mind off of things and make them feel better. For these simple reasons is why I believe that teenage smoking should come to an end.

Are Reality Shows Good Television?

Do you consider a reality show good television? Many people enjoy spending hours in front of a television watching the lives of other people, while theirs passes by. You would think that why would anyone want to watch a reality television show when they can do something more or at least find something better to watch on television. For the simple fact that people now so much enjoy watching these mindless shows they have become quite popular. Nowadays it is quite common to have reality shows on television unlike back then. Personally, I completely disagree with those that consider reality shows good television, because those shows are immoral and do not teach us anything that is good and more the less act as a good influence for us.
Many people decide to watch reality shows because they find them entertaining and an escape to their own personal lives. People watch and study ways of how to adapt things that reality show stars do, say, and wear to their own lives. They believe that by doing so they will become better or feel that they will feel what it is like to be famous by doing so. Although, they are completely wrong if they only do certain things, only because they believe that it is cool well, it is only complicating their lives even more. Those people do not realize that by acting differently than they normally do they are just adding more defects to their lives because they are being other people rather than themselves and people will not be able to know them for who they are and more the less like them.
These shows are most definitely not good television because most of the reality television shows deal with a bunch of random people of a certain nationality or race just partying and not going anywhere with their lives. A good example of a reality television show that is not good television is Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore is about a couple of friends who have never really worked besides a yoghurt shop for only a couple of hours and all they do is party all night. The males of the house have sex with various different girls every single night and most of the females of the house have sex with various different males every single night as well.
Do you believe that is good television? If you do, then if I may ask, what is wrong with you? How can you possibly believe that such recklessness can be good television? All that is to me is pure junk and a very bad influence, it is simply implying that it is okay  to be neglectful and act like total jerks towards other people and not really work and still make a very good living by displaying your daily lives on television. Well, that sort of influence should be banned because that is exposed not only to adults or teenagers but also to children and their brain is like a sponge and therefore they will try to be like the reality show stars.

Importance of math

Math is an important subject simply because we have to deal with math every single day. Many people disregard the fact that by knowing their math that they will not get ripped off when they are purchasing something or more the less so when it comes to trying to sell something. I am not implying that math is all in life because I must admit that I am not one that is at peace with math, but you must at least know some basic math in order to survive in life. Think back to the days of when you were in elementary school and you were taught simple addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication and you shall be okay. Math is one of the main subjects that is required of us to learn in school besides English. Many people decide to give up on math because they find it boring or hard, but they should simply be patient and try to work out the problems and everything should be fine. By obtaining some math skills you might find them quite handy and practical in life and you might even end up saving someone else's life due to math. Math is most definitely not something that should be taken quite lightly and by taking math seriously  you will be able to see the importance of math. These are some reasons of why you should  take math more seriously.

Food people eat

Many people eat what they eat because of the price of the food their taste or simply by the way they look. All of these facts are quite influential to everybody no matter what they say. There are various different kinds of food all over the world and each of them is very special and unique in its own way. The food becomes special or unique to a person because some people are allergic to certain ingredients, dislike food that doesn't look appetizing or simply because they are lactose and tolerant. Although, despite all of these obstacles towards certain foods people still find another output to which to consume other foods and what attracts them to those foods are their taste. Most foods due to their taste leave people craving for more and thus keep coming back for more. Many other people enjoy eating different sort of foods because they enjoy experiencing different things and enjoying them as well. Some people might chooses the food they eat for the ingredients it might contain. It is possible that a person that likes carrots will eat carrot soup just because it is made of carrots. There are also those that are picky with their food and will only eat it the way they like it to look or taste. Many people have different ways of choosing the particular kind of food they eat.

Short-Short Story

Eighty years old, my grandfather still has a very young heart and spirit. My grandfather at his age, cannot stand sitting around and not doing anything, so he helps around the house with what he can. He even does yard work, becuase he doesn't like the house looking messy. He doesn't seem to have eighty years at all! He works all day, carries heavy things, and is very happy all of the time, when he is working. Did I mention that he is very light on his feet as well? He doesn't walk with a limp nor a slow pace and is very healthy. My grandfather is the kind of person that cannot stand working without any music and of course he would always sing along as well. He might look old from the outside, but from the inside he is still a young man that is happy to have his health and his family. At this point in my grandfather's life, he is proud to be eighty years old. To me at times he seems like a young spirit and rebel simply trying to find his  way. I say this merely because he always does what he wants and not what others tell him to do, unless it's to his convenience. He always likes to try new things, becuase he says that is the only way you can proceed and do better in life. I know that my grandfather will continue to have his young heart, spirit, and health for a very long time.

Is Junior High and High Schools Volunteer Work Volunteerism At All?

9. Many junior high schools around the country now require students to spend a certain number of hours each term doing volunteer work or community service. Some people believe this is an excellent idea that promotes good citizenship and cultivates compassion. Others feel that forced volunteerism is not volunteerism at all. How do you feel about this issue? Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.

What do you think good volunteerism is? Many people believe that the required hours of volunteer work and community service hours from junior high and high schools is not volunteerism at all, but I say otherwise. Some people say that since the students are required to complete the volunteer work they believe that the students are being forced to do the volunteer work only in order to graduate and that that it is not volunteerism at all. Others speculate that by completing the required volunteer hours it will promote good citizenship and cultivate compassion.
To me school required volunteer work is volunteerism and the dictionary definition of volunteerism after all does say that it is the “principle of donating time and energy for the benefit of other people in the community as a social responsibility rather than for any financial reward”. If the students finish the volunteer work that is required of them then that to me alone means that it is volunteerism. Also, since the definition does state that it is the mere act of donating time and energy for the benefit of other people, then whether the student is forced or not to complete the volunteer work they are donating their time and energy, so that is volunteerism.
Many students at first do start volunteer work only for the fact that it is required, but later on, as they continue with the volunteer work they might come to enjoy spending their free time in order to help others and do well. Those students that started by hating the volunteer work might actually end up enjoying it and transcending in it as well. That is why many junior high and high schools now require volunteer work and community service so that they can come to enjoy it and experience what volunteer work and community service is. By requiring the volunteer hours and community service it does promote good citizenship and it does cultivate compassion. Since many students were not aware of volunteer work they are being introduced to it, therefore promoting good citizenship and later on, they will cultivate compassion towards what they are doing.
According to the dictionary definition of volunteerism, the required volunteer hours and community service is considered volunteerism. I do believe that the idea of schools nationwide requiring volunteer hours and community service is a marvelous idea that leads the students to a bright future of well doing. With the students being taken upon the right path during school, later when they are adults they shall continue on towards that path and maybe transcend it someday.

Purposes of the Internet

The internet has been the most innovative idea that has come to men and women by far. The internet serves as a beacon of truth and valuable information to everyone. Also, the internet serves as a communication device in order to stay in contact with people who may have moved to a farther place in the world from which it is highly impossible to reach for you. Many people have come to think of the internet as a marvelous idea and something that has set everyone to strive for greatness. Those who provide information on the internet love it because with doing it this way they put themselves out there and it is available for the whole world to see and may have better chances of succeeding in selling products. For those who are users of the internet love it simply because they have the opportunity to shop in the commodity of their homes and are able to do practically everything by utilizing the internet.

Change of Plans

I was accustomed to the fast life of America and  my coffee, without an exception. I had to change those plans once I traveled to Mexico during the summer. Before I got in the plane I drank about three cups of Starbucks coffee, because there was one more thing, it had to be Starbucks coffee and no other. When I arrived to the airport in Guadalajara, Jalisco and saw a Starbucks I was so happy and relieved. My parents wanted to leave immediately to our little town in Zacatecas, but I insisted otherwise and told them to let me get my coffee first and then that we can travel. I had to adjust in Zacatecas because their was no Starbucks near to where I was headed and had to conform to pot coffee that my grandmother made. I must admit that it was very difficult for me at first to adjust because I was highly addicted to Starbucks coffee, but later on I adjusted. I learned to drink regular coffee and not spend my money on Starbucks as much. I also learned to control how much I yearn for Starbucks coffee and control my addiction to it as well. This was by far the greatest summer because I didn't need Starbucks in order to have a good day everyday.

Memoir

In the beginning of my freshman year, in an assembly in the MP room, to decide who the class president will be, I couldn’t help but judge a girl named Fehbe by the way she portrayed herself. I know that it is simply wrong to judge a book by its cover but in this case, it was completely impossible not to do so. Being that it was my freshman year I didn’t quite know a lot of people rather than the ones that went to my former middle school and those who had a class with me. When I saw her in that assembly running for class president I couldn’t help but laugh because she seemed very confident, quite cocky about herself and very spoiled. She especially seemed very bubbly and a total ditz. When later on I had a class with her and started to talk with her, I came to think otherwise. I learned that she was not a ditz and that in her words she was not cocky, simply self-confident. I also found out that she was smart and funny out of all the things that I thought about her, she was funny! To me that was simply amazing that she proved me wrong because she seemed to be the exact person who she portrayed. One thing that I did not get wrong though, was that she was spoiled but once again, she had an explanation for that as well. She told me that she was not spoiled because she deserved everything that she got and that she was an only child.

Personal Essay

It does not matter who you may be, where you come from or your ethnic background; there will be various moments in your life from which you will be disappointed. Although, you have to learn that out of those disappointments a valuable lesson will be instilled upon you. The one thing you should most definitely learn is to look at the positive outcome of each disappointment you may have, just as I have come to do. One specific disappointment that I remember and treasure the most occurred to me a couple of years ago. From that one experience I have learned to use the lesson, I gained from it throughout my short seventeen years of existence in this world.
A couple of years ago the lesson that I obtained from a disappointment was that patience is a virtue.  I learned this valuable lesson when I was at a shopping center in the store Macys. As I was in this store, I came across the most gorgeous pair of sandals that I must simply have! My mom told me to wait at least a week in order to buy them because most likely they will be on sale, but with my obsession with shoes, I could not wait. Therefore, I insisted and begged my mom to buy me the shoes in that moment and of course, it worked. I thought that shoes that gorgeous and captivating could not last another week, but I was completely wrong and naïve. When my mom and I went to the mall the next week, the shoes were still there and they were on sale! My mom told me “I told you so, but you never listen.” I felt so bad for making my mom spend all of that money on a pair of shoes. In that moment when I saw that the shoes were still there and on sale I learned that patience is a virtue.

Is the American Society Too Competitive?

40. Many people feel that American society is too competitive. Do you agree? If so, is this a good thing or a bad thing? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Do you believe that a competitive society such as the one from the U.S. is a good thing? Many people believe that with a competitive society it would make some things easier such as pushing yourself in order to succeed. Although, many other people have a different opinion as those who believe that an American society being too competitive is a good thing.  I believe that the American society being too competitive is both a good thing and a bad thing as well. It simply depends on how you decide to look at it.
The American society being very competitive can be a good thing when the only way you can make a good living is by pushing yourself to be more successful. For example, someone may push himself or herself to get a higher education or even obtain a higher degree than the one that they may already have. With trying to stay in the game you will most definitely try to reach for the stars even when you can’t, but when you can’t reach them you will still land in a better place than you were before.
I must say that even though trying to keep up with the competitive American society there are various downsides to it as well. Many Americans have unfortunately taken their lives due to the pressure of the competitive society. In addition, many have deprived themselves from a social life and completely focused on trying to keep up or try to pay their bills. With so many bills piling up and the society being too competitive, you simply will not be able to become competitive enough in order to make a decent living. Some other negative things that come with a competitive society is that you will not be stable in your job because you will always be scared of getting fired if someone more competitive comes along.  I mean let us face it of course the better person will be hired and with the society being very competitive and aggressive you are most likely to lose your job to someone who may do it better.
As you may see, you can either decide to stay fixed upon the mere negative aspects of the American society being too competitive rather than the positive aspects. By looking at the negative aspects, you will struggle more into having a stable social life and simply being happy with yourself and where you might be in life. On the contraire if you decide to look at the positive side you can come to gain inner peace with yourself and pursue positive things in life such as a higher education.
In my opinion, people should decide to view the American society being too competitive as both a good thing and a bad thing. By viewing it in this manner, you will be happy of where you are in life and where your life is heading. You will not be too stressed or preoccupied, with doing too much that it may lead to you committing suicide and you will be in a better place in your mind and within yourself. Therefore, how will you decide to look upon the American competitive society?
